GATE 2027: dates, registration and eligibility
GATE 2027 is being conducted by IIT Madras. Below are the key dates, eligibility rules and the paper-wise syllabus. Always confirm against the official portal before acting on any date.

Exam pattern
Every GATE paper is 3 hours long and carries 100 marks across 65 questions. General Aptitude is common to all papers and carries 15 marks; the remaining 85 marks come from the subject syllabus. Questions are MCQ, MSQ or Numerical Answer Type. MCQs carry negative marking; MSQ and NAT questions do not.
Eligibility
- Currently studying in the third year or higher of any UG degree, or already graduated.
- No age limit.
- No limit on the number of attempts.
- Score is valid for three years.

Who is conducting GATE 2027?
GATE 2027 is being conducted by IIT Madras. The organising institute rotates each year among the IITs and IISc.
How many papers can I appear for in GATE 2027?
A candidate may appear in one paper, or in up to two papers from the approved two-paper combination list.
What is the eligibility for GATE?
Candidates currently in the third year or higher of any undergraduate degree programme, or who have already completed a government-approved degree, are eligible. There is no age limit and no limit on the number of attempts.
How long is a GATE score valid?
A GATE score is valid for three years from the date of announcement of the result.
